Elham Kargar Tazargh graduated from the Faculty of Informatics with a major in Visual Informatics with specialization in Computer Games Development. Now she works at a software company as a UX designer. In her free time, she organizes community sessions for UX professionals, enthusiasts and beginners, successfully growing and strengthening the community of user experience designers in Brno.

Felizardo Armando Muianga studied Didactics of Foreign Language (English) at the Faculty of Education. He received the MU Vice-Rector’s Award this year for his excellent results in his doctoral studies.

Pavla Kolářová has been working for over a year and a half at the European Investment Bank as an assistant for risk and growth capital. Working in Luxembourg was love at first sight for the Masaryk University graduate.

Professor Pavel Drábek teaches drama and theatre practice, history and theory at the University of Hull in the United Kingdom. He translates older English drama, and writes opera librettos and plays for the radio and the theatre. He spends his holidays in the Czech Republic.

After earning his master’s degree in Finance from the Faculty of Economics and Administration at Masaryk University in 2018, Narek Hovakimyan has built a remarkable career in Armenia’s public service and international economic spheres. Now serving as the Deputy Minister of Economy in Armenia, Narek Hovakimyan reflects on how his education shaped his path and the influence of his time at Masaryk University.

Nasrtullah Hasrat from Afghanistan wanted to be a doctor when he was young. When that didn’t work out, he ended up studying agriculture in his home country, which he didn't particularly enjoy. After two semesters, he decided to change his major to finance and ended up in a field he hadn’t even considered.

While studying international relations in the Netherlands, German graduate Juri Schwartz became interested in the energy sector. But there are only a few universities specialising in this topic in Europe. So, he moved to Brno to pursue the unique Master's degree programme.

From a tropical land to the heart of Europe. Novinta Desweriel, a graduate of the English programme in Cultural Sociology, found her new home in Brno thanks to Masaryk University.

Ten years after graduating from Masaryk University, Canadian Dale Kalina returned to Brno to reminisce about his studies at the Faculty of Medicine. The infectious diseases specialist, who appeared almost daily in the Canadian media during the pandemic, also met with MU students.

Petr Zvoníček, a graduate of the MU Faculty of Informatics, has been working as a developer at Spotify in Sweden for five years now. What he enjoys most about his job is participating in developing a service that has almost half a billion monthly users around the world.

From Azerbaijan via the classrooms of Masaryk University to Amazon’s Prague offices: this has been the journey of Samir Salimov, a foreign graduate of the English Finance programme at the Faculty of Economics and Administration.

“My life has been largely driven by coincidence,” says Stuart Andrew Hopkinson, a graduate of the MU Faculty of Medicine who hails from the United Kingdom. The fact that he went to study in the Czech Republic was a coincidence too, as was the fact that he ended up staying in Brno.
