Rector of Masaryk University Martin Bares today extended and supplemented the measures taken following the current development of the situation regarding the spread of the disease by coronavirus.
The Rector's extraordinary measure, which cancels all contact lessons, now applies from 11 March to 13 April. “We are responding to current developments and refining all measures to protect the health of students, employees and the environment while ensuring the basic functioning of the institution in this emergency,” said Rector Martin Bareš, adding that the measures will be refined in next days.
Until 13 April, all university buildings and facilities will be closed to students and the wider public, except for attendance at meetings of the university's statutory and other bodies. Buildings will remain accessible to employees. Restrictions on the operation of the University do not apply to research and development activities. Doctoral students and other students may participate in these activities if they are in an employment relationship with the university.
However, for all employees, work from home is preferred where possible. All teaching will take place in a distance form, through e-learning and other non-contact forms. Consultations and other communication with students will be in remote form only. Changes in the fulfillment of study obligations, including the deadline for submission of tasks, are governed by the specifics of each field and are therefore decided by the Deans or guarantors of the relevant courses.
Libraries will remain closed for students, or, if possible, they will be replaced by distance loans, and return of borrowed publications will be handled without personal contact. Where possible, publications in digital form will be made available to students.
The dorms and canteens remain in operation. In the dormitories, special rooms were set aside in case that it would be necessary to deal with accommodation of persons with ordered quarantine. Regular disinfection of common areas is carried out, where the number of persons present is limited to a maximum of 75 people. Food delivery will be solved using the ordering system so that there is no accumulation of people in the queues. Sitting in the canteen is adjusted so that the seats are at least two meters apart.
