Universities start to expose plagiarism in semester papers using special software

A team of information scientists from Masaryk University has launched a new system for exposing plagiarism in semester papers. The new Odevzdej.cz (http://odevzdej.cz/) project includes 10 other universities, one of which is Charles University. Supported by the Ministry of Education to the tune of almost 200,000 euros, the project follows the Theses.cz project, which was launched a year ago and also exposes plagiarism in theses. Masaryk University started to fight against plagiarism in 2006. The system for exposing plagiarism in theses is today used by more than 20 schools. The number of files compared has increased to 1.5 million documents.
