Specialists: Czech legal regulations fall behind cyberspace progress

Image
The Czech legal system does not keep pace with the development of the cyberspace, and we are thus facing the challenge of applying the existing criminal-law regulations to the field. These issues were agreed on by the participants of the Law and Cyberspace workshop held at Masaryk University's Faculty of Law. Opportunities brought by the cyberspace are often being misused for major criminal activities such as distribution of child pornography, while the police often lack sufficient methods of preventing these problems.

Hence, the police are dealing with issues connected with collecting evidence in electronic form and its demonstration in court, or with means of monitoring electronic communication with criminal content which often does not allow for the use of traditional wiretap. All the above issues were discussed at the workshop by specialists from among police as well as lawyers.
