The best results are in Law and Arts and Humanities, where the university was placed among the top 300 in the world. It also made it into the top five hundred in Social Sciences and Psychology.
The World University Rankings by Subject ranks higher education institutions in eleven separate subject groups. The ranking criteria correspond to the set of indicators used in the main THE World University Rankings, but the individual subject rankings give different weights to each indicator in an attempt to take account of subject specificities. However, special emphasis is still placed on the results of teaching and research reputation surveys and on the average citation rate of scientific publications within a subject group.
Traditionally, Masaryk University achieved the best ranking in Law (201st-250th place). Masaryk University was also successful in the ranking of the world's top 300 universities in Arts and Humanities, where it maintained its excellent position from last year (251-300). As in the previous year, it was ranked 401-500 in Psychology and improved significantly in Social Sciences, moving up to 401-500 place (compared to 501-600 last year). The University has also improved since last year’s ranking in Clinical and Health Sciences, now ranking 501-600 (compared to 601-800 last year).
“The significant improvement of Masaryk University's position in the Social Sciences and Clinical and Health Sciences rankings and the maintenance of high positions in other subjects included in THE World University Rankings confirms that the continuous rise of Masaryk University in international comparative rankings is no coincidence. It is clearly the result of a well-thought-out and carefully implemented strategy that focuses on continuous improvement of the quality of teaching and research activities. These results should also be appreciated in view of the increasingly challenging competitive environment and the increase in the number of ranked institutions,” said Petr Suchý, MU Vice-Rector for Internationalisation.
A total of 18 Czech universities are represented in the subject rankings.
