In his speech, President Petr Pavel stressed the importance and responsibility of academics in public debate. He believes that if their voices are not heard, there is a risk that the discourse will be dominated by those who seek to spread misinformation and falsehoods. According to the Czech president, education is of paramount importance and the state should support it not only with words but also with deeds. “This is the only way we can keep up with the dynamically developing world and remain competitive in it,” said Petr Pavel.
