Dining on campus: students will have discounts on meals

Students and employees of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Sports Studies and CEITEC in the Bohunice campus can look forward to a larger selection of meals for reduced prices since 1 September. Several establishments offer lunch menus with soup, salads, baguettes and more.

Three third-party providers operate their establishments within the campus: buffets Morfo and U knihovny and the café Na Lávce. Both buffets still offer hot meals out of five lunch menus including soup for CZK 125.

Discount for students

ACS has managed to negotiate a discount with the private operator of the buffets on campus. Customers who present their ISIC card will be granted a CZK 18 discount per each menu. The adjusted price of this “student menu” of CZK 107 should apply at least until the end of the year. It may be kept permanently based on demand.

Pre-ordering as an advantage

All students can also pre-order their meals. Both buffets have an “order log” to ensure that the meals are available when the customers come for lunch the next day. In addition to hot meals the buffets offer a variety of fresh salads, open-face and regular sandwiches or sweet pastry. The Morfo buffet also offers hot dogs and toasts.

Quick snack soup

Café Na Lávce is another opportunity with a selection of desserts, cakes and hot beverages. It has recently added tortillas, sandwiches, hot snacks, salads and one quick-snack soup a day. The café will also test the sale of “box meals”, which may be kept on the menu based on demand.

More time for lunch menus at Campus River

Due to challenging class schedules and hectic workdays students would often miss the midday period for “lunch menus” at Campus River. In response the management of the restaurant extended the times during which the menu is served. “We are introducing happy hours from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 10-percent discount on at least two lunch menus. The same discount is offered every day between 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to all students and employees. They need to present their ISIC, ITIC or employee card and inform the staff, possibly during ordering,” says Michal Horáček from Campus River management. The restaurant also organises an entertaining quiz on Mondays.
