Many designs were submitted in the traditional contest whose purpose is to decide on the appearance of the university’s New Year card. A panel of judges selected three designs which were then submitted to the management of the university for the final decision. The participating students were led by assistant professor of the Department of Art Jana Nedomová.
The panel has selected the New Year card designed by Sára Kalná, student of the programme “Arts and Visual Arts for Education”. “I took part in the contest last year and I won the special award of the panel of judges, which was a success on its own. I am thrilled to have won this year. My design focuses on the use of the MU font, so that it is immediately obvious which university has sent the card. I came up with a total of six designs, mostly inspired by Christmas related motifs, such as snowflakes, stars, or the nativity scene,” the student explained.
Kalná’s design will be modified to suit the needs of the university, as well as for each faculty’s colour schemes.
Hers is not the only design the panel acknowledged. The special award of the panel went to the design submitted by Ela Brychcová; the award for the inspiration for other purposes went to the design submitted by David Škrabák; and the Masaryk University Brand Manager’s Award went to Terezie Chovancová.
