The chamber meeting of representatives of both universities took place in the afternoon on the day of the sad anniversary in front of the building of the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University.

“We are commemorating the loss of human life and the suffering of those who were affected by the event, as well as the shock to our entire public,” said Jiří Hanuš, MU Vice-Rector for Academic and Cultural Affairs. The commemorative act also included a musical performance by students of the Department of Wind Instruments of the Faculty of Music of JAMU under the direction of Jindřich Petráš, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Music of JAMU. Dvořák's New World and the composer's funeral fanfare were played at the end. The poet Vít Slíva recited his own Requiem for Students, which he composed under the influence of the events of 23 December 2023.

As a sign of respect for the deceased and also in solidarity, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Irena Radová, the Rector of MU, Martin Bareš, and the Rector of JAMU, Petr Michálek, laid flowers at the mourning site in front of the Faculty of Arts in Brno. Those present could also honour the memory with a flower or by lighting a candle.
