MUNI RUN 2025 takes runners through campus again

All runners are invited and they do not have to be MU employees or students: MUNI RUN in the Bohunice campus on 13 May is open to adults and children alike.

Gravel, pavement, stairs or footbridge? Whether you are a seasoned runner or just a rookie, MU offers a unique opportunity to explore its campus and see it from a different perspective at running speed, which includes its Faculty of Sports Studies, the Faculty of Science, CEITEC MU and the many buildings of the Faculty of Medicine.

MU has once again prepared a race with only one 4,800-metre route (four laps), but the time and final standings are not a factor. Should you decide to bring younger runners, there will be two laps based on their age (106 and 500 metres).

“Everyone can run at his or her own pace, and there are no losers. It is about the joy of the physical activity and the shared experience. MUNI RUN is a cool opportunity to join all key elements of the university – students, employees and alumni – as well as to meet colleagues, friends and teachers in a whole different role, and to enjoy the afternoon together,” says Vice-Rector Petr Suchý, an active athlete himself.

Vojtěch Grün from the Faculty of Sports Studies is last year’s winner in the employee category. He agrees that the event is not only about running but especially about the gathering of students and teaching stuff outside lecture halls. “This, I think, is the key element of socialisation. The race itself is on the shorter side and anyone can finish it regardless of their condition. The frequent changes of the surface can be a challenge even for more experienced runners,” Grün explains, adding that he may sign up this year again to face younger runners who may prefer this type of races more than he does as an ultramarathon runner.

“MUNI RUN is the only race that passes right through the heart of the campus, its labs, libraries and faculties. The distance is convenient and really anyone can do it, so make sure you show up,” winner of the women’s employee category Barbora Novotná from the Rector’s Office notes.

Children, youth and adults must register to participate. The entry fee in the adult category (employees, students, general public) is CZK 300. The registration package contains your bib and socks. All children can look forward to a small gift. The proceeds from the event will be donated to MU’s MUNI SPORT club.

Changing rooms, showers and refreshments will be available at the venue. Students from the FUKS student association will take care of the pre-race warm-up and activities during the race. The ROJC brewery will handle the much needed refreshment (including their own lemonade) along with Božský kopeček with their ice cream.
