Fire drill will be held in dormitories Vinařská in an unspecified time in the week 15 to 20 September. The purpose of the simulated fire, which will be indicated by a non-toxic smoke emanating from one of the rooms, is reviewing the system of evacuation and the intervention of firefighters.

"Evacuation training is one of the preventive measures that can enhance personal safety of the students. Exercise does is not mandatory and is being prepared in consultation with the firefighters and at the request of students," said Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Jiři Němec.

The fire will be declared by domestic radio, then the students have to leave their rooms and gather in front of the building. After that it will be checked whether all left the building. Throughout the alarm police forces will be on the spot to ensure the safety of personal belongings of accommodated students.

The event should end in about 30 to 40 minutes from the beginning of the alarm, then everyone can return to their rooms. "Based on the evaluation of the event additional security measures will be taken," added Němec.

Ealier this year in May there was a fire in dormitories Vinařská. It broke out on a fridge and 300 students had to be evacuated. The equipment has been properly reviewed and it was an unpredicable failure. Although the University did not fail, it decided to proceed with the introduction of other extra fire precautions. By 2016, all three blocks of rooms at Vinařská will be renovated. Among other things, the old formica will be replaced by brick. Already in July this year all rooms were equipped with self-closing fire doors and extinguisher.
