A lot of activities are on offer for individuals such as a gym, pilates or street dance shows but also team sports activities such as volleyball, futsal, basketball and plenty of others.

The exams period is rushing by but its end is far away. Energy is running low but it is still so needed. What can you do? If you are among those who gain new energy from sport, try to have a look at the PE on offer during the exam period. Masaryk University offers its students a wide choice this year as well.

From the moment when a student, anguished by hours with textbooks, says that he or she needs a change for a while, it doesn’t take much time to the moment he or she find him or herself in the gym. To get to a sports lesson doesn’t require any special energy.

The full list of where to go is available on the website of the Department of Athletics, Swimming and Outdoor Sports. There you can choose any sport you like. There are activities on offer for individuals such as the gym, pilates or street dance shows but also team sport activities such as volleyball, futsal, basketball and plenty of others.

“The students don‘t need to sign up, they just need to come to the sport lesson they like according the timetable” Věra Večerová, a head of the Department of Athletics, Swimming and Outdoor Sports said. But she also mentioned the only exemption, which is the tennis lesson. If you wish to follow the tennis lesson, you need to register in the Information System (section Student). “The only reason for that is the limited capacity of the tennis courts,” Večeřová explained.

The sports activities are nothing special during the exam period already for many students, the lessons are very popular. “I wanted to cut my head off so I decided to go with my girlfriend to the swimming pool. It’s cool that the University supports it,” Jiří Fiala, MU alumni recalled.

Ivana Hnilová, a student of the Faculty of Education, confirms his words about relaxing from studies. “A friend of mine persuaded me to come to the gym with her. When I got there I hardly knew what the equipment was good for till the moment one young lady couldn’t stand it any longer and showed me how to do exercises in the proper way. I learnt a lot. It was great.” Praise with a smile from a future teacher of English.
