Continuous improvement of comfort at dormitories has long been among MU’s long-term priorities. Last year the Mánesova dormitory underwent renovations of the interiors; this year the dormitory at bratří Žůrků saw the much needed layout upgrade.

MU is once again an active participant in the European Sustainability Week. Mobility is this year’s key topic.

Masaryk University has long followed the “biggest celebration of sports” – the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In addition to a few TOP 10 results in Paris, it can be proud of “its” medal success: the fencing team’s bronze medal is a result of collaboration with Dean of the Faculty of Sports Jan Cacek.

In the summer, the Centre for International Cooperation of Masaryk University opened the first year of the summer school Urban Sustainability: Engage in the Future. The teachers received excellent responses to the three-week summer school – the students appreciated the practically oriented teaching and the opportunity to try out a case study on the streets of Brno.

Masaryk University and its efforts to help Ukraine have attracted the attention of the European Parliament. The EP featured the DigiUni project in its three-and-a-half minute video, choosing it among many other projects from across Europe that promote the EU-Ukraine partnership.

This year, Masaryk University once again held a competition for the best photo from foreign studies with the motto "You won't experience this in Brno". A new photo contest for foreign students on the topic "Only in Brno" has been added. The six winning images come from the cameras of students of three faculties and from the summer school.

Four experts from leading American universities have joined the teaching staff at the Faculty of Law. Founded over ten years ago, the visiting professor programme is an opportunity for law students to learn about other legal systems and the recent trends, as well as to compare various approaches to legal issues.

Two years ago the SYRI National Institute was founded in response to the pandemic. Its goal was to learn from the unprecedented situation resulting from the pandemic. Masaryk University is among world’s top 500 universities for the third time, according to the most recent Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). MU is the only Czech university to improve its ranking by two hundred places since 2021.

Since April, Masaryk University has a security manager. Pavel Bojanovský is an alumnus of the Faculty of Law with vast experience in the Police of the Czech Republic.

Having earned a degree at the at the Faculty of Education, he taught history and geography for a year and then decided to return to school to study political science at the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University. Today Miroslav Kosek is the Head of Mission of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa.
