Masaryk University Rector became an archaeologist for a while at the Těšetice-Kyjovice site.

Masaryk University has completed another successful summer school season, which ended with the Open Garden. More than a hundred international students who had studied in Brno for several weeks arrived at the joint barbecue.

A total of 101 students from 31 countries from all over the world are taking part in this year's Summer School of Slavonic (Czech) Studies, which has been organised regularly for over half a century by the Department of Czech for Foreigners at the Faculty of Arts.

The current edition of the QS World University Rankings: Europe sees Masaryk University improve its last year’s ranking by eighteen positions, mostly due to the improving international reputation, internationalisation, quality of alumni and efforts in the area of sustainability.

Lukáš Šafář, a student of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, is one of the first students to be issued a micro-credential by Masaryk University. In total, the university will issue almost two hundred micro-credentials this semester.

After two years of intense preparation, Masaryk University is one of the first universities in Europe to introduce micro-credentials, which will bring a significant change to lifelong learning.

The second largest investment in the history of the university is now in the final realisation stage after having been planned since the approval of the Národní plán obnovy initiative in 2021 by the European Commission and Czech authorities.

In his doctoral research, Andrei Kalavur from Belarus analyses the communication of supporters of the current authoritarian regime in Belarus. His research has attracted much attention at international conferences – most recently in Philadelphia.

Maria Zlobina is a structural biologist working at CEITEC. Normally she studies molecules and their possible bonds with RNA. But that is not all that she does in her laboratory. She uses the discoveries from the microscopic world and brings unique and original patterns to life… on textiles.

Species diversity is a key research topic for the Department of Botany and Zoology of the Faculty of Science. Its team has made surprising discoveries in their research into freshwater biodiversity in the Czech Republic and the whole of Europe.

In spite of the increasingly tougher competition MU managed to stay close to 400th place but it has also improved its ranking in the area of Employment Outcomes, Sustainability and Employer Reputation.
